Physicists at the Georgia Institute of
Technology in the US have grown nanorings of single-crystal zinc oxide. Since the material is piezoelectric and semiconducting, the nanostructures could have applications in sensors, resonators and transducers (X Kong et al. 2004 Science 303 1348) See: http://physicsweb.org/article/news/8/2/14 |
