This isn"t true. The story has been repeated a number of times in the past couple of years, same story exactly, word for word. Looks like a lame attempt to put out vaporware by some losing group...

Almost every claim that comes out of Asia can not be substantiated, because the west hast limited access to these claimed technologies and it is not clear if they are hoax and another marketing trick usually employed by the japanese, Koreans, or the Chinese, or if it is an actual scientific break through. For most part, it is a psychological campaign. Koreans and Japanese have a long lasting dormant hate for each other, and they take it personally when one of the nations comes up with a technology that the other lacks. I personally side with the Koreans, because the Koreans think more like Europeans, and less with Japanese because of the recent trouble I went through with Honda motors mad.gif

This is obviously fake.

In a few years, Japan might have the technology and materials to do this but definitely not South Korea. Japan is ahead of South Korea by many years, maybe even a decade. I guess South Korea is trying to out-do their Japanese enemies in terms of technology by creating a fake hoax. The photo clearly shows a picture of an actual female human being and anyone with fully-functional eyes should be able to distinguish that. They should at least have made it more realistic instead of writing down that piece of unartistic fakeology.

So, soon, they will be able to get her to move her legs . . . ? The comic opportunity that follows is endless. Try this one:
The engineers spent a year geting her to stand up and talk, now they can't get her to sit down and shut up.
No wait, that's the Al Gore model, nevermind.

I highly doubt that. Even the Honda robot which is supposedly all of that, has just learnt to climb the stairs. Just keeping the damn thing from falling took them 7 years. An android, I would say takes at least 100 years or more to become appreciable human like or functional.

100 years drude? Come on, you can't be serious. Look how far computing has come in the last 100 years. I would give them 20 years to make that Honda-bot walk anywhere it wants to.

As for the 'android' being fake... All history between Japan/Korea and the West aside, it really isn't all that amazing. I mean, it talks (barely), it looks like a human (so, there are plenty of sculptors that can make a face like that), and it looks at you when you talk. Yip-dee do! Strikes me as a gross overstatement to call that an android at this stage of production.

What on earth would possess you to call this a hoax? Is it that hard to imagine that today's technology can make a human sculpture look at you while you talk? And then use 1 on 400 pre-programmed responses to talk back to you?

I would venture to say that those who call this a hoax are still up in arms over the conspiracy of that new 'holographic projector'... Wait. That's real as well.

Condraz23,

what is funny about your comment is that you are wrong. the part about it being fake. That is the model, not a real human being.

Well, if the thing is actually real then it must be the actual robot. However, since it is more likely fake, I don't think it is actually a real robot.

It's either an extremely-accurately sculptured model of a person or a just real person. If you also believe that the android is a fake, then you can decide.

It's a moveable sculpture, with robotics inside... what else is there?

As for it being an android... I'm not sure what the definition of android is, but it is a real robot.

Give me a break! They've had more advanced technology than this at Disney theme parks for decades! Anyone ever ride the Pirates of the Caribean ride?
