from a line source, if amplitude of a wave at a distance 'r' is'a'.then the amplitude at a distance '4r' will be what?

What type of wave are you describing?

To me at a guess you are talking about water.

Situation where you drop a stone into a still pond and measure the amplitude of the wave as it radiates outward this will NOT be the inverse square relationship as it is a surface effect only.

Energy spreading through space will decrease in intensity at the inverse square of distance.

from a line source what would be the pattern of spreading in space?will equa; intensity be transfered in all directions?
