Need help with the following questions please! I'm stuck on these 3 and help would be much appreciated
1) A piece of copper with a specific heat capacity of 0.039 cal/g celcius is given 210 cal of heat and changes temperature from 32 degree celcius to 51 degree celcius. What is the mass of the copper? 2) a portable heater is rated at 1400 W. How much energy is given off if it runs for 5.0? 3) if 50.0g of ice at 0.0 celcius is added to 150.0g of water at 80.0 degree celcius, what will the temperature of the mixture be when it reaches thermal equilibrium. |

Can I ask you some questions 1. How many degrees does the Copper rise? 2.. "5.0" is that days or hours? 3. Have you heard of the latent heat of freezing? You need to know that too. |

you definitely need to know the amount of time it took to go from resting to peak temp

for question 1 Q=M*SPECIFIC HEAT CAPACITY*CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE 210=M*0.039*(51-32) M=210/(0.039*19) for question 2 power=energy/time for question 3 calculation should begin with energy required for phase change. -------------------- altamash
