Did you ever get the impression that the idiots such as brucep and flyingbuttressman and AlexG are being given ample opportunity too expose themselves. Let's find out who is who. It is most important.

I don't think you're being fair to rpenner Bruce. This forum has a very lose and broad description of the posts that can be placed here:

"Post here your ideas and thoughts, which might look weird at the moment. Who knows how it's going to be 100 years from now!"

While there may be a lot of incoherent gibberish posted here, it invites that sort of thinking. I think due to the description you need to cut our moderator more slack on how strict he is, at least in this topic. My comment is for the posts in this forum topic only.

I'm not sure he is the moderator. I don't think he would allow the flagrant unfounded claims of United BS without consequence. He hasn't clarified his position after I started this thread. This is based on precedent. You're trying to read something into this thread that I'm not going to allow I've shown nothing but praise for rpenners moderating.

I am sorry if I read more into your thread then you intended.

On the subject of unfounded claims, the description of posting "thoughts and ideas that might look weird at the moment" I think gives posters the impression this is a place they can post those thoughts, even if based on unfounded claims, at least in this specific forum.

Unless the description for this forum is tightened, I think your asking too much of a moderator to go against what the forum appears to invite and allow.

No the unfounded claims are for his claiming to be a leader in the field and that HIS claims have been thoroughly documented and proofed in his nonsense threads.

I'm sitting here switching back and forth between MNF and game 5 World Series. I hate the Giants [been a Dodger fan since 1954]. Normally I'd always root for the NL but this year I really like this Ranger team. Especially the Natural [Josh Hamilton]. But I'm really conflicted every time they show the dunce, in Ranger gear, sitting behind the Rangers on deck circle. Sheesh.

We've seen more of rpenner over on SciForums than we have here lately.

Perhaps she's decided to get a life, instead of being chained here.

That thread seemed like a big waste to me so I have not been following it. Allowing leeway in unfounded scientific thought is different then a blatant false statement.

If he is misrepresenting his credentials a moderator should address it. Sorry I jumped to conclusions without knowing all the facts.

Nothing to be sorry for. I value your opinion. I'm actually concerned about whether this forum is going to be moderated. I've seen what can happen when moderation fails. Check this site. It used to be a fun place. There's a psycho named Jeffreys who was banned 5 years ago but shortly thereafter the webmaster ditched his site. The forum uses Prof Hawkings name. It's a travesty. I've occasionally tried to reach the webmaster to appeal for the forum part of the site to be disbanded since he's using Hawkings name. You have to scroll down to enter the forum.

After my last post in this thread, I decided to go back to Unitedphysics thread and see what I was missing. I only read a few additional posts because I had already decided much earlier the thread was a waste of time, but I take that back. What I read subsequently was so ridiculous I laughed harder then I had in a long time.

I'm am usually one of the last people to make fun of, or insult another persons ideas, even if I think they are ridiculous, I tend to keep those thoughts to myself. I have often seen ideas I didn't think much of and still gleamed some useful thought or perspective from them.

Just the statement he makes that gravity is half as strong in dreams is so over the top crazy, I have to wonder why you would make any comment in that thread at all, even if to point out he is a lunatic? My advice is the best way to handle a nut like that is to ignore them and let the thread die from lack of participation and interest as soon as possible.

We can be our own moderators in that sense.
