Where shall we hold the annual party and steering committee meeting?
Should we make a whole weekend of it and schedule tours?

I guess it's time to set a place and RSVP.

Right now, I'm down to:
1) Touristy Mexican-themed restaurant (might be too loud) like Chevy's ( http://www.chevys.com/map.aspx?locationID=83 ) or El Torito ( http://eltorito.com/location.asp?loc=176 )
2) Quiet steakhouse. (might offer only steamed vegetables for any steamed vegetarians)
3) California Academy of Sciences' Moss Room. http://www.themossroom.com/

Seriously, need those RSVPs and a vote for San Francisco or San Jose.

I'll be there.

I say San Jose. San Francisco has too much in common with France.

(Psst. It's a paid-for fete, not a potluck. No $$$ required. And the San Jose McDonald's no longer has the fry-making robot that used to get press.)

Have you noticed your warn level, recently, Bw/S? Good bye 2008.

If it's San Jose, then the Brass Rail...

Sounds dark and noisy. On the plus side, free wi-fi. http://www.brass-rail.com/
But they don't offer food on May 1, and that is a deal-breaker.

Since interest is low, I'm thinking of TusCA in the lobby of the Santa Clara Hyatt, at the Tasman stop on VTA's light rail which connects with most regional public transit options. http://santaclara.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/ I have certain demands on my time, and this location is close to ideal for lunch or dinner on May 1.

Does anyone have to work on that day, or is lunch at 12:15 fine?

Compromise--
Palo Alto...California St...Tony's Nuthouse, followed next door by music at the Keystone.

Just kidding...probably all gone...haven't been in deep California for decades...
The traffic couldn't be any better. (But the Paul Masson Vineyard Tour is a tempting thought...).

One should "Google Street" Stevens Creek Blvd., and compare it to the Champs-Élysées, before one starts knocking France. (I'm English/German/American, but I have a spot for wine, bread, and a good Camembert).

Why did the French plant trees along the Champs Elysees?
