This hopefully corresponds to your question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beam_(structure) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bending http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deflection_(engineering) The equations depend heavily on how the beam (it's about a beam, isn't it?) is hold and how the stresses are applied, and on the cross-section of the beam, so being more specific would help. |
