Hello
I am suresh, from India. First I want to tell that I amnot a God Believer. I just want to know the fact or Reality.
On many sites, I read that Physicist Oliver Lodge has researched on super natural powers in a scientific way. With his studies he proved that there may be SOME THING- which we can not know and cannot prove till to day.
I personally not a believer or NOT believer in God or something Else.
This is my personal experience.
I don't have any READY MADE believes in these Issues.
So, I tested an Astrologist.
I am a Journalist. I decided to meet an Cinema Actor. Before making any correspond to contact the Cine Actor, I asked this question EXACTLY. I don't use any other words except these.

"To whom should I meet? And what he will be? Can I succeed''

ANSWER from Astrologer :
You are going to meet an Artist. He use lot of perfumes. Talks with good respect to others. Very believable man. He belongs to venus (Sukra - in Sanskrit Language).

I wonder with this.
Even after this, I dont believe in religious matters blindly.

After this, I got curiosity about these things. I read about Sir Oliver lodge - Physicist.
Is his experiment is true?

I think that, my experiement is not any spiritual related issue and is a fact.
Comment on this issues.

Thanks

I am not a believer in the supernatural either. That does not mean that some things don't "exist". I consider that everything that we experience is a natural phenomena... even if they are performed using technical means. This does not mean that everything that we cannot understand is a "trick" as our "friends" in the Magicians Guild and the Skeptics Society would maintain. One "obvious" example is the "placebo effect" which can cure and heal yet is not fully explained by just "suggestion".

The concept is that if it is not understood, presented as if it was fact and if the presenter does not admit to trickery he/she is lying. This is "hard and fast" with no exceptions. A form of "thought police" by highly secularized and politicised dogmatists. They "need" to disprove to themselves that all is a "sham" and that Magicians (and they associate Scientists with themselves) know "all". No humble Scientist would ever make such a claim. However if you are a respected Scientist and you do make a claim supporting the "supernatural", you will certainly lose your funding and credibility.

Sir Oliver Lodge was a highly respected Physicist and member of the Royal Society and associate of other like minds in the late Nineteenth Century. It was the era of table rappings and spiritualism. There was a lot of open mindedness among many of those luminaries who had seen the emergence of the concepts of "higher dimensions". It was an "invention" of that era, not necessarily an invention of Einstein. I have seen many books written before Einstein was even born that speak of higher dimensions.

All these things are a mixture of fraud and fact. The British Government imprisoned a woman for witchcraft, invoking a law going back hundreds of years in the 1940's during World War II, for revealing facts about the sinking of a British Battlecruiser and it latitude and longitude and the conditions under which it was sunk, during an open seance. Knowledge that the Admiralty did not even have at that time. Clearly the Navy was well aware of what it was doing and the implications. The British Government eventually repealed the law (not until after World war II). He he he!

These things do happen but they are nothing to do with the "supernatural". They are natural and I can say they certainly do happen with disturbing regularity. They are probably the cause of much disturbance among those who are influenced by "spirits" and these "foolish" people can be easily manipulated and persuaded to do things, even quite violent things, outside their normal behavior patterns by "spirits". Others experience extrordinary phenomena spontaneously and are innocent of any "trickery".

My advice is some people are "gifted" others are charlatans and still others are a bit of both... All are not "supernatural" and are using "unseen" parts of our natural world. One day we will all understand this and maybe some will have to be punished but certainly not poor Sir Oliver Lodge. One day he will be seen as a visionary!

Cheers

Thank you for your reply GoodElf
I don't want to continue this Topic like an ENDLESS Discussion or Foolish Religious discussion.
My last question is (I ASSURE..) - Oliver Lodge talked with Spirit or Soul or something- of his died son. (I Described this as SOME THING - Because I don't like to mention "soul" because I don't have direct experience and there is no evidence)
If you start believe that Some people can tell the future and past (In your words - It is natural But NOW we cannot detect it) and believe Lodge's experiment with Soul - or Something -
Should we believe Incarnation Etc... or May this be a Fact? I mean one should Re-born after his death. etc...
Thanks

I am not about telling anyone what to believe especially if that belief is not based in some verifiable facts. I think there are many things not generally understood. It is not wrong to be curious... this is the true spirit of Science. What I will say is we have only limited knowledge of the dimension of time and the multitude of spatial dimensions that are unseen and surround us. Who am I to say that there is "nothing" out there?

I will say this, the question of human survival should not be confused with the problems of the knowledge of the existence of a deity or indeed many deities... or the questions associated with "right action" or the "golden rule". No... human survival will, in the end, be simply a factual or non-factual aspect of our Universe. I believe that this may indeed be the case and may be a very "happy" and fortunate fact that will lead us forward (if we are lucky!). But if there was no such "reward" of an afterlife or if there was no "God" and there were no "supernatural" events you should not be concerned. These things are not the purpose of our life.

It is very important to have that other "dimension" of "right action" otherwise such a boon may prove more of a burden to each of us. I point to the large number of suicides in this life and mass human unhappiness and death and think that where they go will simply be "more of the same". We humans do not need the knowledge of an afterlife or of an avenging and punishing God to create human misery... No... humans can do that all by themselves as aptly demonstrated by the principalities and powers and the rank and file already on this Earth.

If you want miracles from your "God", if you need to worship a deity or elevate some image above the real sacredness that we see in our fellow creatures... I suggest that you worship in vain. The only miracles that count in this life are those performed by humans in service to other humans in need. We are all fellow travellers. On a personal note being a Scientist (if only at heart), and seeking Truth, is surely one way to do this as long as it is "shared".

All that is requested of each and every one of us is our lives in service to those who need your assistance. Do you need your "God" to tell you this? Your "Gods" can look after themselves as they truly understand, do not worry about their welfare. If you see that... you will not need any false idols. I am not specifically speaking of the many faces Hindus place on their deity... No... I am speaking of the many idols that we westerners already possess and elevate and place above the worth of so much "wealth" that we are overlooking in our own midst. For this we will be held accountable... perhaps for all time.

As to all that spirit phenomena... It is my firm belief that the principal protagonists in all this activity is not our "God" or our "Gods" but "humans" in the final assessment. They are the ones interested in our outcomes and are willing to use "means" to influence it. Are these humans "dead" or "alive" or "neither" is too difficult a question for me to answer but they can exhibit all the benefits and problems (good and bad) that any number of other humans demonstrate in the world we understand (or at least think we understand). I believe they cause endless strife and also great good (more the former than the latter).

They probably feel they have a right to meddle since they are "human" but there are no laws we can exercise at present to prevent this ambivalent intervention in our affairs. We should either mind our own business or simply show scientific curiosity... I will warrant that the future of mankind will profit from it in a very real and significant way but keep all that religious zeal out of it... you can be too easily "caught up in tricks". Elves know all about them. biggrin.gif

Cheers
