Hello all;
I'm a newbie coming in. My latest interest is in magnetic field lines. To digress. I'd like to say something about the two slit experiment. We won't know the answer until we can understand what is happening in the slit itself. Till now the result has been analized by a geometric analysis of the area between the viewing screen and the slit screen. The result has been analized, but not the cause. Consider a beam of electrons squeesed by a suitable electric field. Have this beam go through a pinhole in a barrier. Once released of constraint the electrons will repel and diverge. Looking at the pattern on the viewing screen it will be said, oh look at the pattern, they are waves. It was'nt diffraction, though it was repulsion that spread the electrons. Next time something about lines of force, Lasand |

A hole is a hole:)
Or are you suggesting that it interferes with the waves/photons? How? -------------------- The wireless telegraph is not difficult to understand. The ordinary telegraph is like a very long cat. You pull the tail in New York, and it meows in Los Angeles. The wireless is the same, only without the cat.

Hello yor_on;
I just had a reply, that took me half an hour to type, disappear. I'll try again later. My six digit security code was'nt accepted. Later Lasand This post has been edited by Lasand on Dec 8 2007, 05:51 PM -------------------- "It's elementary, My Dear Quantum"...The Sherlock Holmes of physics.

Greetings yor_on;
I agree with Richard Feynman that photons are particles. Several years ago I developed a theory of the photon. this idea requires that the electron be composite in nature. Such photons are emitted in the usual divergent manner,however, when forced to can interact. Experiments usually by means of lenses and barriers change the path of photons and squeeze them into a confined area. In it's bare essence, the two slit experiment is a clever four knife edge diffraction experiment. I believe the photons can interact in the brief time of passage thru slits and such. My theory is quite unorthodox and has been sitting on the shelf for years now. Next post will be about a possible quantum explanation of the lines of force around a current carrying conductor Later; Lasand -------------------- "It's elementary, My Dear Quantum"...The Sherlock Holmes of physics.
