The controversy over electron flow versus current flow came about when the semiconductor came into being. Before semiconductors there were tubes and electrons flowed in the same direction as current(power). After semiconductors current flow(called hole current) is reversed from electron flow. Why. because that was the only way to describe and understand how current flow in semiconductors worked.
