Does culture influence the brain? Well just look at feral children to see that culture GENERATES the civilized products of the brain. -------------------- The only constant is delta.

Culture if you want to call it that, has very specific impacts on human development. Although I believe we are largely the result of what we genetically inherit, an inability to adapt to change, call it"culture" whatever, would seem suicidal. Adaptation is one one of the great gifts to the world. It offers the chance to improve one self on the run, so to speak. And if we don't, we all take our place as some ones fossil, at some point in the future.

Also fascinating is the relationship between one's primary language and one's various abilities/traits. I seem to recall some work done that showed correlations between certain languages and problem-solving ability. Some languages apparently teach people to make more emotional decisions, others are more apt to support more logical thinking.

break it down this way...
we used familiar moves and moves that were kind of familiar, and moves that were not familiar at all given that they are not reinforced over and over. and lo and behold... we get a nice spectrum this way... however, we didnt join science to get the truth... no no no sireee. we did it to promote our ideological pet loves... so its culture.... meanwhile... the mirror neurons have no way to discern culture movements vs non cultural movments... they only have more familiar moves in my surroundings... less familiar but similar (form follows function)... and not familiar at all.... i bet if you used music that people are familiar to... music kind of familiar, and music not familiar at all... that the ability of people to tap out a correct beat with them will be the same... the one that they are familiar with, they can follow close and complete... the lesser, less close and less complete... (more bouts of learning vs using whats learned)... and not being able to follwo it much at all... same thing... mirror neurons fire against what they know more than what they dont know... after somethign is learned, then it can be recognized, and if recognized the neurons have a known pattern to follow and fire to do so. this is why sciences suck now... the idea is to not find the truth, but the truth that confirms ideology... welcome to the new soviet union... design and invention and discovery by consensus... worked great for them... you can see how great its working for everyone else too... [maybe china is doing so well because they are past proving, and are doing... in fact, they dont care if it proves their ideology, they havent that luxury, and their totalitarian state doesnt need proof to justify acts. meanwhile, all this is like toxic poison that will take 100 years to wash out, if ever] |

isnt the brain initially controlled by chemicals..... the synapses are what its all about right? so repetition builds the connections, maps out the brain's "personality" new synapses can be modified but old ones are pretty established old country highways.... ya know? |
