Okay guys, I'm new here but I want to go ahead and start up a new discussion. Please keep in mind that I am not posting bogus science but would like to have a real discussion on the possibilities of new age propulsion.

With that being said, here we go...

Now that we've seen the beginning of the 21st century and are moving quite quickly into this new age of declining energy sources, everyone is beginning to ask the question: "What new type of energy can we use now?"
Although my question does not begin with this in specific, it has a lot to do with the implications of this publication I have "discovered".
Has anyone heard of this guy Podkletnov and his Impulse Gravity Generator? Do a search on "Podkletnov Impulse Gravity Generator" and look for any papers you can find on it. The main publication is on arXiv but I can't post the link here. =(
But go check it out and PLEASE let me know what you think! I want to know what everyone else knows about this experiment. Whether it is bogus science or legitimate experiment. If anyone knows where there are possible peer reviews of this experiment or others similar to it, please let me know.

Now, with this "idea" at your disposal, what are your thoughts? Could it possibly happen? If not, then what new kinds of propulsion would we have to look at in the future? We want to get off this planet quicker and more efficiently without having to deal with any kind of propellant, so what do we do?

Thanks guys, I look forward to future discussion with you!

Hello C T
Looked over the papers pretty good...including the interview and the two papers on arXiv.
Plenty of people have heard of Podkletnov... in fact he is practically a "Folk Legend!". His fame stems from his earlier experiments where a gravity cancelling effect was supposedly, as reported by the press, achieved.
He disappeared from public view for a while and your mention of him here aroused my curiousity because I was never able to access the paper that was alledgedly written by him previously regarding his experiments.
The latest papers plus the interview are the only ones I found accessible.... and my assessment follows.

The interview with AAG by T.V. seemed sensationalized by attributing claims to Podkletnov that were not supported by the papers as published on arXiv.

I found the papers to be straight forward (in the details that were given) in describing the experiments and the apparatus used to conduct them. There were discrepancies or lack of details concerning several aspects of the experiments that I think are critical to an acceptance of the summation of the experiments as described and would be neccessary to anyone wishing to replicate them.

First... the location/s where the experiments were supposedly conducted were insinuated but never specified.
Second... The type of materials used for the target/s and method/s of detection were never specified beyond what was supposedly used in the immediate vicinity inside the lab where the apparatus was located.
Third... There were claims of anomalies that were never described or analized.
Fourth... The source/s of the funding was insinuated to be partially at least by the Russian Government... I do not believe they would support or allow publication of information on research (funded by them) such as this, if it were credible because of the technological edge it would afford their emerging economy.
Fifth... There are more discrepancies but the above should suffice.

My summary is... "I believe, until I am shown something more credible, that this is an elaborate attempt to attract indiscriminate funding through sensationalism for non-viable/non-productive research."

____________________________________________________________________

If we assume inertial/gravitational equivalency, which empirically seems a safe assumption, then yes the possibility for manipulation exists. The acceleration of mass in a gravity field and the inertial resistance to acceleration offered by mass implies a rather large amount of relative energy potential per given volume of space.

Cheers
