I have some homework on square root functions and I am having trouble with this question:
Function; f(x)= -1√(-qx+12) +p btw: -qx+12 is the only part under the root. Which of the following is true? a ) p>0, q>0 b ) p<0, q>0 c ) p<0, q<0 d ) p>0, q<0 And there is a diagram of the function that i have on Photobucket, but since I am a new member, I am not allowed to post links... But the vertex is in the 1st Quadrant and it is reflected about both the x and y axis. Thank you P.S I have solved this before and I figured out that the correct answer is D. However I may be wrong though. I thought is was D because if you sketch the graph, "p" is obviously positive. But it is also a transformed function where it is reflected about both the x and y axes.
